Permissions: camera, location, notifications
Why StudyLight asks for the camera, location and notifications, and what each is used for.
Why does the app ask for camera or location?
Permissions are requested only for the feature that needs them, with an explanation first. The camera is used to take the measurement on-device; location (if used) tailors environmental data. You can decline and still use features that don't need them.
What does the app use the camera and location for?
The camera takes the measurement: the rear camera reads the light in the room, and the front camera estimates reading distance during the scan. No photo or video is recorded, kept or uploaded. Location is used to work out the daylight available where you are — it can be declined, and everything except the daylight factor still works.
Why does the app ask to send notifications?
For the reminders you turn on: the eye-break timer, study-session alerts, and the Sunday Study Report if you have Pro. Android only asks once, so if you said no and want them back, turn them on in the phone's Settings → Apps → StudyLight → Notifications. Nothing else is sent — there are no promotional pushes.
