Getting started

What you need to start: which phones, no account for the free tier, the free and welcome scans, offline use and profiles.

Which phones does StudyLight work on?

Android phones running Android 7.0 or later. It is not available on iPhone. The app is in English.

Do I need an account to use the app?

Not for the free tier — you can measure immediately after onboarding with no signup. You can sign in with Google or with an email address and password; either works, and both are reachable from Settings → Account at any time. An account is only required when you buy, so the purchase can follow you across devices, and to create profiles.

How many scans can I do for free?

Two a day, and the count resets at midnight. Both scans are the full measurement — a free scan is not a reduced one. Pro removes the cap.

What are welcome scans?

A new install also gets 20 one-time welcome scans. Once the day's free scans are used, a welcome scan pays for the next one, until they run out. A scan only counts when it produces a result.

Does the app work without internet?

Yes. Scanning, scoring, history, Learn, Challenges and StudyTools all run on the device with no connection. An internet connection is only needed to sign in, to buy or restore Pro, and to sync across devices. The daylight estimate uses your saved location and needs no connection either.

Can I scan for more than one child?

Yes — profiles keep each child's scans, streak and history separate, and the score is age-aware, so the same room can be judged differently for a six-year-old and a fifteen-year-old. The first profile is free. Pro adds the rest, up to five.
